Applied Behaviour Analysis
I have been consulting on Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) programmes for a number of years and have extensive personal and professional knowledge of Autism and have a son aged 14 who has Autistic Spectrum Disorder/ADHD. I am currently studying for the BCABA (Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst) certification with the University of North Texas and expect to achieve accreditation in the near future.
I provide on-site training workshops for families, therapists and teachers in addition to holding training courses at various locations throughout the UK. The workshops are designed to provide attendees with the necessary skills to implement treatment programmes with the children with whom they work. I have also previously lectured on Applied Behaviour Analysis on the MA (EBD) course at the University of Wales, Newport in addition to providing in-house training and consultation to a newly established care home in South Wales. I am also able to undertake functional assessments of children and adults with challenging behaviour on behalf of parents, teachers, local education authorities, social services departments and other private organisations working with persons who present with challenging behaviour.
I consult to several families within the UK and provide ABA programmes for children and adults of all ages and abilities and am not limited to delivering particular brands of ABA. I have consulted to older children diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome and have experience of providing programmes for children whom displayed severe challenging behaviour, including self-injurious behaviour. I have experience of planning schemes of work for Key Stages 1,2 & 3 of the National Curriculum and have independently assessed ABA programmes delivered by other ABA providers within the UK as part of parental appeals to SENDIST and SENT(W).
I provide case consultation and training to staff that parents recruit. Before treatment each child has a baseline assessment to determine their current developmental milestones, using either ABLLS or the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales in addition to other assessments which are selected based upon the age and ability of the child/adult.
I attend on a three-weekly basis to oversee the curriculum programmes, provide specialist additional training and review the data and observe programme implementation. I link ABA programmes to the National Curriculum wherever possible and refer to the relevant 'PIVATS' or National Curriculum Key Stages, which assists clients when communicating the effectiveness of ABA programmes to education staff in Local Education Authorities.
